Test 40A - Courtesy Light System & Power Supply

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Open left front door. If courtesy lights are NOT all on or off, go to TEST 41A. If courtesy lights are all on or off, turn ignition on and close all doors. If courtesy lights stay on all the time, go to TEST 42A  .
  2. If courtesy lights do NOT stay on all the time, ensure courtesy light switch (located next to headlight switch) is off. Using DRB-II, actuate courtesy lights. If courtesy lights come on, go to TEST 43A  .
  3. If courtesy lights do not come on, use DRB-II to stop courtesy lights actuation test. Turn ignition off and disconnect Body Controller Module (BCM) Bone connector. Module is located behind right kick panel. With DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Gray connector terminal No. 19, fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open circuit in Pink wire between BCM and fuse No. 13. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  4. If voltage is more than 10 volts, use DRB-II in voltmeter mode to check voltage on BCM Gray connector terminal No. 12, courtesy lights output circuit (Yellow wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  5. If voltage is less 10 volts, disconnect inoperative light assembly. With DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage on fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire) in light assembly. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open circuit in Yellow wire back to BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open circuit in Pink wire back to fuse No. 13. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
