Test 32A - Wiper Motor Low Speed Operation
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
at end of article.
- Move wiper switch between off, intermittent, low and high speed modes. If wiper motor is not operating in high speed mode, replace body controller module. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If wiper motor is operating in high speed mode, disconnect multifunction switch connector. Connector is located on upper part of steering column, behind trim cover. If wiper motor is not operating in high speed mode, replace multifunction switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If wiper motor is still operating in high speed mode, use DRB-II in voltmeter mode to check voltage on multifunction switch connector wiper switch mode sense circuit (Dark Green/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair short to battery voltage in Dark Green/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, remove high/low wiper motor relay from Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located on left front fender apron. With DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage on high/low relay connector high speed output circuit (Red/Yellow wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair short to battery in Red/Yellow wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, use DRB-II in voltmeter mode to check voltage on high/low relay connector control circuit (Violet wire). If voltage is more than 0.2 volt, replace high/low wiper motor relay. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If voltage is less than 0.2 volt, disconnect Body Controller Module (BCM) Bone connector. Module is located behind right kick panel. With DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on high/low relay connector control circuit (Violet wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Violet wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
