Test 43C - Left Rear Door Ajar Switch Circuit Open

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Close right front door and open left rear door. If courtesy lights operate by opening left rear door, go to TEST 43D. If courtesy lights do not operate by opening left rear door, go to next step.
  2. Using DRB-II, read door ajar switch status. If DRB-II displays DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, replace Body Controller Module (BCM), located behind right kick panel. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II does not display DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect left rear door ajar switch connector. Connect jumper wire between chassis ground left rear door ajar switch connector sense circuit (Tan/Red wire). Using DRB-II, read door ajar switch status. If DRB-II displays DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, replace left rear door ajar switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
    NOTE: The BCM must be connected while performing step 4). Failure to do so may lead to incorrect circuit/system diagnosis.
  4. If DRB-II does not display DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, disconnect jumper wire used in step 3). Access BCM connectors. Connect jumper wire between chassis ground and BCM Gray connector terminal No. 3, left rear door ajar switch sense circuit (Tan/Red wire). Using DRB-II, read door ajar switch status. If DRB-II displays DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, repair open circuit in Tan/Red wire between left rear door ajar switch and BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II does not display DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
