Test 26C - Wiper Motor Output Circuit Short
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
at end of article.
- Remove on/off wiper motor relay and high/low wiper motor relay from Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located on left front fender apron. With DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on on/off relay connector fused battery feed circuit (Red/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Red/Dark Blue wire and replace "C" cartridge fuse. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, use DRB-II in ohmmeter mode to check resistance on on/off relay connector common drive circuit (Light Green/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Black wire and replace "C" cartridge fuse. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, disconnect windshield wiper motor connector. Connector is located on engine compartment firewall, just right of power brake booster. With DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on high/low relay connector low speed output circuit (Brown/White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/White wire and replace "C" cartridge fuse. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, use DRB-II in ohmmeter mode to check resistance on high/low relay connector high speed output circuit (Red/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Red/Yellow wire and replace "C" cartridge fuse. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace windshield wiper motor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
