Test 27A - Low Speed (On/Off) Wiper Motor Relay & Controls

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Remove jumper wires (if installed). Remove high/low wiper motor relay from Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located on left front fender apron. With DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage on high/low relay connector ignition feed circuit (Dark Blue wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to TEST 29A  .
  2. If voltage is more than 10 volts, use DRB-II to actuate wiper motor in low speed mode. With DRB-II in voltmeter mode, backprobe on/off relay connector control circuit (Dark Green/Yellow wire). If voltage pulsates between zero and more than 0.2 volt, replace on/off relay. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  3. If voltage does not pulsate between zero and more than 0.2 volt, access Body Controller Module (BCM). Module is located behind right kick panel. Using DRB-II, actuate wiper motor in low speed mode. With DRB-II in voltmeter mode, backprobe BCM Bone connector terminal No. 1, on/off relay control circuit (Dark Green/Yellow wire). If voltage pulsates between zero and more than 0.2 volt, repair open circuit in Dark Green/Yellow wire between BCM and on/off relay. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage does not pulsate between zero and more than 0.2 volt, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
