Test 42A - Short Circuit In (Courtesy Light) Switch
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION

- Ensure courtesy light switch (located next to headlight switch) is off. If courtesy lights go off, perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If courtesy lights remain on, go to next step.
- Ensure all doors are aligned correctly against switches. If doors are misaligned or misadjusted, align or adjust door as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If doors are aligned correctly, use DRB-II to read left front door ajar switch status. If DRB-II displays LFDOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to TEST 44A. If DRB-II does not display LFDOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Using DRB-II, read door ajar switch status. If DRB-II displays DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to TEST 45A . If DRB-II does not display DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Using DRB-II, read courtesy light switch status. If DRB-II displays COURTESY SW: CLOSED, go to TEST 46A
. If DRB-II does not display COURTESY SW: CLOSED, check if vehicle is equipped with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE). If vehicle is not RKE equipped, go to step 7).NOTE: RKE module may be accessed by carefully prying each end of dashboard top cover, then lifting rear edge of top cover and sliding cover forward to disengage front clips.
- If vehicle is equipped with RKE, disconnect RKE module. Module is located on top, right side of dashboard. If courtesy lights go off, replace RKE module. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If courtesy lights remain on, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Controller Module (BCM). Module is located behind right kick panel. If courtesy lights go off, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If courtesy lights remain on, repair short to ground in courtesy light output circuit (Yellow wire). Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
