Test 50A - Compass/Mini Trip Module No Response

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  in this article. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  in this article.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect compass/mini trip module connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If connector is okay, go to next step.
  2. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of system ground circuit (Black/Light Green wire) at compass/mini trip module connector terminal No. 5. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire. Perform TEST VER-1B. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition on. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on fused ignition switch output circuit (Tan wire) at compass/mini trip module connector terminal No. 7. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 6). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  4. Connect a jumper wire between CCD BUS negative circuit (White/Black wire) at compass/mini trip module connector terminal No. 11 and Ground. Using DRB, read CCD BUS status. If DRB does not display BUS SHORTED TO GROUND, repair open White/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1B. If DRB displays BUS SHORTED TO GROUND, go to next step.
  5. Disconnect jumper wire. Connect jumper wire between CCD BUS positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire) at compass/mini trip module connector terminal No. 12 and ground. If DRB does not display BUS SHORTED TO GROUND, repair open Violet/Brown wire. Perform TEST VER-1B. If DRB displays BUS SHORTED TO GROUND, replace compass/mini trip module. Perform TEST VER-1B.
  6. Remove and inspect fuse No. 7 from fuse block. If fuse is okay, go to step 7). If fuse is open, turn ignition off. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fused ignition switch output circuit (Tan wire) at fuse No. 7 connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan wire. Perform TEST VER-1B. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse No. 7. Perform TEST VER-1B.
  7. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on ignition switch output circuit (Black/White wire) at fuse No. 7 connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair short to ground in Black/White wire from fuse panel to ignition switch. Perform TEST VER-1B. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace fuse No. 7. Perform TEST VER-1B.
