Test 30A - Diagnosing Courtesy Light Control Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  in this article. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  in this article.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. If only rear overhead console lights are inoperative, go to step 5). Gain access to inoperative courtesy lights. Remove and inspect inoperative bulbs. Replace any open bulbs. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If bulbs are not okay, go to next step.
  2. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on switched battery feed circuit (Pink/Light Blue wire) at each inoperative bulb. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Light Blue wire to bulb. Perform TEST VER-1B. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM), located behind center console. Disconnect Blue BCM connector. Go to next step.
  4. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of courtesy light control circuit (Yellow wire) between Blue BCM connector terminal No. 25 and inoperative courtesy light bulb connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Yellow wire. Perform TEST VER-1B. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reconnect courtesy bulbs and BCM, then retest system.
  5. Gain access to overhead console lights. Remove and inspect bulbs. Replace any open bulbs. Perform TEST VER-1B. If bulbs are okay, go to next step.
  6. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on switch output circuit (Gray wire) at each inoperative bulb. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Gray wire to bulb. Perform TEST VER-1B. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Yellow wire. Perform TEST VER-1B.
