Test 64H - Repairing Shorted Key In Ignition Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR  IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect key in ignition switch connector. See Figure . Using DRB, read key in ignition status. If DRB does not display KEY IN IGN : CLOSED, replace ignition switch. If DRB displays KEY IN IGN : CLOSED, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black connector. Body controller is located behind right side kick panel. Check condition of connector and clean or repair connector as necessary. Put DRB in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance of BCM Black connector terminal No. 4 (Light Blue wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue wire.
