Test 72A - Open Seat Belt Switch Circuit

NOTE: Perform TEST 32A  or 71A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring schematics, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  in this article. Perform TEST VER-1 - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect left front seat belt switch connector. Connector is located on left side door pillar, just behind seat. Connect jumper wire between seat belt switch connector terminals. Using scan tool, read seat belt switch status. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT: CLOSED, replace left front seat belt switch. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT: CLOSED, go to next step.
  2. Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 1 (Light Green/Red wire) on seat belt switch connector. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT: CLOSED, repair open Black wire. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT: CLOSED, go to next step.
  3. Access Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. DO NOT  disconnect connectors. Backprobe a jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 5 (Light Green/Red wire) on BCM Gray connector. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT: CLOSED, repair open Light Green/Red wire. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT: CLOSED, replace BCM.
