Test 96A - Left Front Door Fails To Lock & Unlock From Any Switch
NOTE:
Perform TEST 95A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Drive vehicle to update OTIS and perform TEST VER-1 - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Remove key from ignition switch. Gain access to Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module. See Figure . Disconnect RKE module Black connector. Go to next step.
- Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal "H" (Black wire) on RKE module Black connector. If resistance is 5 ohms of greater, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between terminals "G" (Pink/Black wire) and "H" (Black wire) on RKE module Black connector. Depress left front door lock switch to LOCK position. If left front door lock operates, replace RKE module. If left front door lock does not operate, go to next step.
- Remove jumper cable. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at terminal "A" (Pink wire) on RKE module Black connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Measure voltage at terminal "C" (Orange/White wire) on RKE module Black connector. Depress and hold door lock switch to LOCK position. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Orange/White wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Release door lock switch. Measure voltage at terminal "E" (Pink/Violet wire) on RKE module Black connector. Depress and hold door lock switch to UNLOCK position. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Pink/Violet wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Reconnect RKE module Black connector. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, backprobe terminal "G" (Pink/Black wire) on RKE module Black connector. Depress and hold door lock switch to UNLOCK position. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace RKE module. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Release lock switch. Remove left front door trim panel. Disconnect left front door lock motor connector. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at terminal No. 1 (Orange/Black wire) on left front door lock motor connector. Depress and hold door lock switch to LOCK position. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Orange/Black wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Release lock switch. Measure voltage at terminal No. 2 (Pink/Violet wire) on door lock motor connector. Depress door lock switch to UNLOCK position. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Pink/Violet wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace door lock motor.
