NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Ensure ignition switch is in ON position. Using DRB, read key in ignition switch status. If DRB displays KEY IN IGN : CLOSED, go to step 5). If DRB does not display KEY IN IGN : CLOSED, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove ignition key. Open left front door. If DRB displays KEY IN IGN : OPEN, system is operating properly at this time. If DRB does not display KEY IN IGN : OPEN, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect key in ignition switch connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. If DRB displays KEY IN IGN : OPEN, replace ignition switch. If DRB does not display KEY IN IGN : OPEN, go to next step.
  4. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM), located behind right kick panel. Disconnect BCM. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Put DRB in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at BCM Black connector terminal No. 4 (Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair Light Blue wire between BCM Black connector and key in lamp switch connector for short to ground. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, replace BCM.
NOTE: Ensure left front door remains open for remainder of test procedure.
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect key in ignition switch connector. Connect jumper wire between key in lamp switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Orange wire) and terminal No. 2 (Light Blue wire). Ensure driver's door is open. If DRB displays KEY IN IGN : CLOSED, replace key in ignition switch. If DRB does not display KEY IN IGN : CLOSED, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect jumper wire. Connect jumper wire between key in lamp switch connector terminal No 2 (Light Blue wire) and ground. If DRB displays KEY IN IGN : CLOSED, repair open in Light Blue wire between key in lamp switch connector and ground. If DRB does not display KEY IN IGN : CLOSED, go to next step.
  7. Disconnect jumper wire. Gain access to BCM, located behind right kick panel. With connectors connected, connect jumper wire between BCM Black connector terminal No. 4 (Light Blue wire) and ground. If DRB displays KEY IN IGN : CLOSED, repair open in Light Blue wire between BCM Black connector and key in lamp switch connector.
