Test 2B - Blank Message Screen On EVIC Panel

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Chrysler LeBaron. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Put DRB in voltmeter mode. Measure voltage at fuse No. 26 (Red wire). See Figure . If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 4). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect EVIC panel connector. Reinstall fuse No. 26. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Measure voltage at EVIC panel connector terminal No. 5 (Pink wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Pink wire between EVIC panel connector and fuse No. 26. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Ensure courtesy lamp switch is off. Close all doors and wait one minute. Put DRB in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at EVIC panel connector terminal No. 6 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace EVIC panel monitor. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Light Green wire between EVIC panel and ground.
  4. If voltage is less than 10 volts in step 1), IOD fuse (third fuse from left on bottom row) in power distribution center, located in front of left front strut tower. See Fig 1 . If fuse is open, go to step 6). If fuse is okay, go to next step.

  5. Measure voltage at power distribution center IOD fuse (Black wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair power distribution center. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open in Red wire between power distribution center IOD fuse and 50-pin dash connector.
  6. If fuse is open in step 4), put DRB in ohmmeter mode. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Measure resistance at power distribution IOD fuse (Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Red wire between power distribution center IOD fuse and 50-pin dash connector for short to ground. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, replace power distribution center IOD fuse.
