Test 33E - Windshield Wiper Switch Signal Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.

CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.

Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Leave BCM connectors connected. Using DRB in volt-meter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 16 (Dark Green/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair short to battery voltage in Dark Green/Red wire. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Connector is located on upper part of steering column, behind trim cover. Ensure all doors are closed and courtesy lamps are off. Wait one minute. Go to next step.
Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Bone connector terminal No. 16 (Dark Green/Red wire). If resistance is 1150-1350 ohms, replace multifunction switch. If resistance is not 1150-1350 ohms, go to next step.
Disconnect BCM Bone connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between chassis ground and BCM Bone connector terminal No. 16 (Dark Green/Red wire). If resistance is less than 3000 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Green/Red wire. If resistance is more than 3000 ohms, go to next step.
Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between specified multifunction switch terminals with multifunction switch in specified position. See TEST 33E RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS table. If resistance is not within approximate specification, replace multifunction switch. If resistance is within approximate specification, replace BCM.
