Test 99A - Wiper Problem During Wash Mode
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
section at the end of this article. Perform TEST VER-1B after each repair.
- Attempt to operate wipers in intermittent mode. If wipers do not operate in intermittent mode, go to TEST 97A. If wipers operate in intermittent mode, go to next step.
- Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind left side knee panel. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, backprobe BCM Blue connector terminal No. 5 (Brown wire). With probe connected, engage washers. If voltage is more than 10 volts while engaging washers, replace BCM. If voltage is less than 10 volts while engaging washers, go to next step.
- Gain access to multifunction switch connector. Backprobe multifunction switch connector terminal No. 3 (Brown wire). With probe connected, engage washers. If voltage is less than 10 volts while engaging washers, replace multifunction switch. If voltage is more than 10 volts while engaging washers, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Disconnect BCM Blue connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Brown wire between BCM Blue connector terminal No. 5 and multifunction switch connector terminal No. 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Brown wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
