(1) Using a Burroughs belt tension gauge (C-4162).
(2) Using a torque wrench applied to square hole in bracket.
(3) Belt is considered used after 15 minutes of service.

(1) Belt is considered used after 15 minutes of service.
(2) Serpentine belt.
NOTE: Accessory drive belt tension on 2.5L (generator, A/C, and power steering) and 3.0L (A/C) is adjustable. All other accessory drive belts, for all engines, are equipped with an automatic belt tensioner and no adjustment is required.
CAUTION: DO NOT attempt to check belt tension using a belt tension gauge on vehicles equipped with an automatic belt tensioner.
