Scan Tool Diagnostic Mode

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See DATA LINK CONNECTOR (DLC) table for connector location. See Fig 1 .

  2. Start engine (if possible). With foot on brake, move transmission shift lever through all positions, ending in Park. Turn A/C switch on and then off (if equipped).
  3. Turn engine off. Without starting engine again, turn ignition on. Using scan tool, access and record trouble codes.
  4. When scan tool trouble code message is obtained, refer to appropriate test number. To clear trouble codes, see CLEARING TROUBLE CODES.
