Test 111A - Wipers Operate Constantly With Ignition On

NOTE: For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER  section in this article. Perform TEST VER-1  VERIFICATION TEST after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition on and wiper switch off. Using scan tool, read intermittent wiper voltage. If voltage is 9 volts or less, go to step 5). If voltage is more than 9 volts, go to next step.
  2. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM bone connector. Go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Bone connector terminal No. 16 (Dark Green/Red wire). If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace BCM. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Connector is located on upper part of steering column, behind trim cover. Turn ignition on. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair short to voltage in Dark Green/Red wire. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace multifunction switch.
  5. Turn ignition off. Remove intermittent wiper relay (relay No. 6) from Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located on left front fender apron. See Figure . Go to next step.
  6. Substitute a known-good relay. Turn ignition on. If wipers do not operate constantly, replace original high/low wiper relay. If wipers operate constantly, go to next step.
  7. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Turn ignition on. If wipers do not operate constantly, replace BCM. If wipers operate constantly, go to next step.
  8. Turn ignition off. Remove substitute high/low wiper relay. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Bone connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Green/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Green/Yellow wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace BCM.
