Test 60B - Parking Lamp Switch Output Circuit Short To Ground
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER
section in this article. Perform TEST VER-1
VERIFICATION TEST after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
NOTE:
Low battery or momentary Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus failure may cause DTCs to set.
- Using scan tool, erase DTCs. Start engine. Turn parking lamps on. Allow engine to run for 2 minutes. Turn parking lamps off. Turn engine off. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. If PANEL LAMP PWM OUTPUT FAILURE DTC is not present, system is operating properly at this time. If PANEL LAMP PWM OUTPUT FAILURE is present, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM connectors. BCM is located in behind right kick panel. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Gray connector terminal No. 8 (Orange wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace BCM. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect headlight switch connector. Check resistance of BCM Gray connector terminal No. 8 (Orange wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace headlight switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect radio connector. Check resistance of BCM Gray connector terminal No. 8 (Orange wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace radio. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) head connector (if equipped). ATC head is located behind A/C-heater control panel. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Gray connector terminal No. 8 (Orange wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace ATC head. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect manual A/C climate control head connector (if equipped). Manual A/C climate control head is located behind A/C-heater control panel. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM connector terminal No. 8 (Orange wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace manual A/C climate control head. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect instrument cluster connectors. check resistance of BCM connector terminal No. 8 (Orange wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL article. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange wire.
