Test 72A - Open Seat Belt Switch Circuit
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER
section in this article. Perform TEST VER-1
VERIFICATION TEST after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Disconnect left front seat belt switch connector. Connector is located on left side door pillar, just behind seat. Connect jumper wire between seat belt switch connector terminals No. 1 (Light Green/Red wire) and No. 2 (Black wire). Using scan tool, read seat belt switch status. If scan tool displays SEAT BELT: CLOSED, replace left front seat belt switch. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between chassis ground and seat belt switch connector terminal No. 1 (Light Green/Red wire). If scan tool displays SEAT BELT: CLOSED, repair open Black wire. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Access Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. With BCM connectors connected, connect jumper wire between chassis ground and BCM Gray connector terminal No. 5 (Light Green/Red wire). If scan tool displays SEAT BELT: CLOSED, repair open Light Green/Red wire. If scan tool does not display SEAT BELT: CLOSED, replace BCM.
