Identifying Vehicle Equipment & System Problems

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect DRB to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure. Turn ignition on. If DRB screen is blank, see REPAIRING DRB BLANK SCREEN .
  2. With DRB, select BODY under SELECT SYSTEM and then BODY COMPUTER. If DRB does not display BUS OPERATIONAL message, check body control computer for bus failure messages. See appropriate article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If BUS OPERATIONAL message is displayed, go to next step.
  3. If DRB displays TURN IGNITION ON, perform procedures for TEST 112A - FUSED IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT TO BCM . If DRB displays NO RESPONSE, see TEST 113A - BCM NO RESPONSE CONDITION OR BATTERY POWER TO MODULE DISCONNECTED.
  4. Select INPUT/OUTPUT DISPLAY and read IGN RUN/START state. If DRB displays OPEN, see TEST 112A - FUSED IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT TO BCM .
  5. Select READ DTCs. If heater-A/C trouble codes are present, perform TEST 1B and 2A. If there are no stored codes, screen will display NO DTCS DETECTED. Refer to the following menu:
