Test VER-1: Verification Test
- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under instrument panel near steering column. Reconnect any disconnected components. Using scan tool, perform QUICK BATTERY DISCONNECT and erase all DTCs. Using scan tool, display transmission temperature. Start and run engine until scan tool transmission temperature display reads HOT.
- Check transaxle fluid and adjust if necessary. If Transmission Control Module (TCM), torque converter or transaxle has been replaced, perform computer quick learn procedure. Using scan tool select MISCELLANEOUS, then QUICK LEARN. Follow displayed scan tool instructions.
- Road test vehicle. Using scan tool, monitor engine speed (RPM). Make 15-20 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4 upshifts. Perform these shifts from a standing start to 45 MPH with a constant throttle opening of 20-25 degrees.
- At speeds less than 25 MPH, make 5-8 wide open throttle kickdowns to first gear. Allow at least 5 seconds each in 2nd and 3rd between each kickdown. If vehicle is equipped with AutoStick, place shift lever in AutoStick position and perform a complete upshift and down shift sequence.
- On all vehicles, check for DTCs during road test. If any engine performance DTCs set during road test, see the TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If any transmission related DTCs set during road test, see the AUTO TRANS DIAGNOSIS - CHRYSLER 41TE/AE CONTROLS article. If no DTCs set, test is complete.
