CMTC Test 3A - Compass/Mini-Trip Computer Displaying "OC"

NOTE: Perform CMTC TEST 1A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS . Drive vehicle at least 3 miles (greater than 25 MPH) to update CMTC and perform, after each repair, VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE .

NOTE: For CMTC wiring diagram, see INSTRUMENT PANEL - ANALOG article for Dakota or see INSTRUMENT PANEL - ANALOG for Durango.

CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.

Disconnect ambient temperature sensor connector. Sensor is located to the right of condenser on radiator saddle. Connect jumper wire between connector terminals. Turn ignition on. Observe CMTC display. If CMTC displays SC, replace ambient temperature sensor. If CMTC does not display SC, go to next step.
Turn ignition off. Disconnect jumper wire. Disconnect CMTC module connector. Connect a jumper wire between ground and Violet/Light Green wire of ambient temperature sensor harness connector. If CMTC displays SC, repair open Black/Light Blue wire between ambient temperature sensor harness connector and ground. If CMTC does not display SC, go to next step.
Connect a backprobe jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 3 (Violet/Light Green wire) on CMTC harness connector. If CMTC displays SC, repair open Violet/Light Green wire between ambient temperature sensor harness connector and CMTC connector. If CMTC does not display SC, replace CMTC module.
