Test TC-50B: Trans 3-4 Solenoid/ Trans Relay Circuits

NOTE: Perform TEST TC-50A: TRANS 3-4 SOLENOID/ TRANS RELAY CIRCUITS  before proceeding. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For component location and for appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  1. Turn ignition off. Remove Transmission (TRANS) control relay. Inspect TRANS relay connector and terminals for damage. Repair connector and terminals as necessary and perform TEST VER-5A: ROAD TEST FOR OBD-II TROUBLE CODES  on AB body, or TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION  on all other bodies. If connector and terminals are okay, go to next step.
  2. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and TRANS control relay connector, TRANS control relay output circuit (Light Blue wire on AB and ZJ bodies; White/Brown wire on AN body; Red wire on BE/BR and DN bodies). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in TRANS control relay output circuit and perform TEST VER-5A: ROAD TEST FOR OBD-II TROUBLE CODES  on AB body, or TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION  on all other bodies. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
  3. Check resistance of TRANS control relay output circuit (Light Blue wire on AB and ZJ bodies; White/Brown wire on AN body; Red wire on BE/BR and DN bodies) between TRANS solenoid connector and TRANS relay connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open TRANS control relay circuit and perform TEST VER-5A: ROAD TEST FOR OBD-II TROUBLE CODES  on AB body, or TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION  on all other bodies. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check voltage on TRANS relay connector, fused B+ circuit (Yellow/White wire on DN body; Light Green wire on ZJ body; Red/White wire on all other bodies). If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open fused B+ circuit and perform TEST VER-5A: ROAD TEST FOR OBD-II TROUBLE CODES  on AB body, or TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION  on all other bodies. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace TRANS control relay and perform TEST VER-5A: ROAD TEST FOR OBD-II TROUBLE CODES  on AB body, or TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION  on all other bodies.
