Test 5A - No Response From Anti-Lock Brake Controller Module
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect anti-lock brake controller module. Anti-lock brake controller module is mounted on left inner fender panel. Inspect terminals and repair as necessary. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and anti-lock brake controller module 25-pin connector terminals No. 8 (Black wire) and No. 24 (Black wire). If resistance of either circuit is 10 ohms or more, repair appropriate open Black wire. If resistance of both circuits is less than 10 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and anti-lock brake controller module 25-pin connector terminal No. 9 (Red/Dark Blue wire). If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to TEST 5B . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Measure voltage between ground and anti-lock brake controller module 25-pin connector terminal No. 23 (White/Violet wire). If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to step 6). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Inspect fuse No. 17 in junction block. If fuse is okay, repair open White/Violet wire between fuse No. 17 and anti-lock brake controller module 25-pin connector. If fuse is blown, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and anti-lock brake controller module 25-pin connector terminal No. 23 (White/Violet wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in White/Violet wire between fuse No. 17 and anti-lock brake controller module 25-pin connector.
- Turn ignition off. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance of Yellow/Violet wire between BCM 12-pin Bone connector terminal No. 2 and anti-lock brake controller module 25-pin connector terminal No. 20. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Yellow/Violet wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace anti-lock brake controller module.
