Steering Column
The steering column used in this vehicle is a multi-position, tilt type steering column. See Fig 1 . It is manufactured by DaimlerChrysler Corporation. The steering column used is an energy-absorbing design. This type of a steering column design allows steering column to collapse in event vehicle is involved in a front-end collision.
The steering column has been designed to be serviced only as a complete assembly less components listed. See Fig 1 . The following components can be serviced without removal of steering column from vehicle:
- Air Bag Module
- Clockspring
- Ignition Switch
- Key Cylinder
- Multi-Function Switch
- Tilt Lever
- Trim Shrouds
- Steering Wheel
