Input Shaft: Assembly

  1. Install new seal from fluid side with Installer (6624) and Handle (4171). Drive seal into adapter plate until tool bottoms out. Install new bearing onto new input shaft. Do not use old bearings. Install new bearing cone in front adapter. Be sure to install original shim behind new bearing cone. Clean sealing surfaces of transmission case and adapter plate.
  2. Install new input shaft and adapter plate (without any Mopar(R) Gasket Maker). Check output shaft end play. It should be same as measured during disassemble procedure. If end play is greater than original reading, install a thicker shim. If end play is less than original reading, install a thinner shim.
  3. After correct shim has been installed, remove adapter plate and apply Mopar(R) Gasket Maker to sealing surfaces. Install adapter and tighten adapter bolts to 34 N.m (25 ft. lbs.). Install transmission into vehicle and fill with Mopar(R) Synthetic Manual Trans Lubricant.
