Wiper On/Off Relay Control Open Or Short Circuit

NOTE: Perform WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - INTRODUCTION article. Perform VERIFICATION TEST: VER-2A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Remove wiper ON/OFF relay from Power Distribution Center (PDC). See Fig 1. PDC is located in engine compartment. See Figure. Turn ignition on. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal "A" (Red wire) on wiper ON/OFF relay socket. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Red wire. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step.
  2. Install wiper ON/OFF relay in PDC. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone 12-pin connector C3. BCM is mounted to junction block located behind left end cap of instrument panel. See Figure. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 4 (Red/White wire) on Bone harness connector. If voltage is 8 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 8 volts, replace BCM.
  3. Disconnect wiper ON/OFF relay. Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal "C" on wiper ON/OFF relay. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 4 (Red/White wire) on BCM Bone 12-pin connector C3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace wiper ON/OFF relay. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Red/White wire.
