Trouble Code Repair Procedure

  1. Using scan tool, erase DTCs and reset all memory values. If verification is for an A/C fault, verify A/C is operating during the road test.
  2. Turn ignition off for at least 10 seconds. Restart vehicle and run for 2 minutes. If starts since set and a good trip (when applicable) changed to one or more, stop. Repair is complete. If starts since did not set and good trip (when applicable) did not set, go to next step. Road test vehicle. Drive for at least 5 minutes, shift through all gears and attain at least 40 MPH. Stop once during trip and turn ignition off for 10 seconds or more. Restart engine and continue.
  3. After road test, turn engine off. Using scan tool, read DTCs. If another DTC exists, perform appropriate diagnostic test(s). See DTC MESSAGES & CODES  table under DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS. If no codes are present, diagnose by symptom. See TEST NTC-1A: NO TROUBLE CODES (NTC) TESTS . If no other DTCs exist or symptom is no longer present, repair is now complete.
