Test SC-2A: Checking Speed Control Operation

NOTE: Perform TEST CS-1A: CHECKING SPEED CONTROL OPERATION  before proceeding.
  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check speed control switch voltage. If voltage is more than 4 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 4 volts or less, go to step  6.
  2. Disconnect speed control ON/OFF/SET switch. Using scan tool, read speed control switch voltage. If voltage is more than 4 volts, replace speed control ON/OFF/SET switch. Perform TEST VER-4A: SPEED CONTROL VERIFICATION . If voltage is 4 volts or less, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect speed control RESUME/ACCEL switch. Using scan tool, read speed control switch voltage. If voltage is more than 4 volts, replace speed control RESUME/ACCEL switch. Perform TEST VER-4A: SPEED CONTROL VERIFICATION . If voltage is 4 volts or less, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect clockspring 5-pin connector. Observe voltage on scan tool. If voltage is more than 4 volts, replace clockspring. Perform TEST VER-4A: SPEED CONTROL VERIFICATION . If voltage is 4 volts or less, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector. Using a DVOM, check resistance of speed control switch signal circuit between speed control ON/OFF/SET switch connector and ground. See SPEED CONTROL ON/OFF/SET SWITCH CONNECTOR WIRE IDENTIFICATION  table. If resistance is less than 5,100 ohms, repair short to ground on speed control switch signal circuit. Perform TEST VER-4A: SPEED CONTROL VERIFICATION . If resistance is 5,100 ohms or more, replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-4A: SPEED CONTROL VERIFICATION .
  6. Disconnect speed control ON/OFF switch connector. Using a DVOM, check voltage of speed control switch signal circuit between speed control ON/OFF/SET switch connector and chassis ground. If voltage is 6 volts or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 6 volts, repair short to voltage on speed control switch signal circuit. Perform TEST VER-4A: SPEED CONTROL VERIFICATION .
  7. If voltage is 4 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 4 volts, repair open or high resistance in speed control switch signal circuit. Perform TEST VER-4A: SPEED CONTROL VERIFICATION .
  8. Connect a jumper wire between speed control switch signal circuit and ground at speed control ON/OFF/SET switch connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read speed control ON/OFF/SET switch voltage. If voltage is less than one volt, replace speed control ON/OFF/SET switch. Perform TEST VER-4A: SPEED CONTROL VERIFICATION . If voltage is one volt or more, replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-4A: SPEED CONTROL VERIFICATION .
