Test NTC-2: Communication With Scan Tool Is Not Possible
- Locate 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) under left side of instrument panel, near center console. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 16 (Red/Black wire) at DLC. See Fig 1. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check power circuit to DLC for open or short to ground. - Check continuity between ground and terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 5 (Black/White wire) at 16-pin DLC. If continuity is present at both terminals, check for loose scan tool cable connections or bad cable. If cable connections or cable are defective, repair or replace components as necessary. If cable connections and cable are okay, replace scan tool. If continuity is not present at either terminal, repair open in Black wire or Black/White wire between DLC and ground connection G202. Ground is located behind left side of instrument panel. See Figure.
