Test NTC-3: Scan Tool Communication With Pcm Is Not Possible

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect and inspect 33-pin junction connector No. 2, located behind left side of instrument panel. See Figure. Disconnect and inspect 10-pin Blue in-line harness connector B-52, located behind left side of center console, under instrument panel. See Figure. Also disconnect and inspect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) harness connector A-78. See Figure. PCM is located at left front corner of engine compartment, in front of Electronic Automatic Transmission Electronic Control Module (EATX-ECM), near relay box. Inspect all connectors for damaged pins, corrosion and loose terminals. Repair connectors as necessary. If connectors are okay, go to next step.
  2. Reconnect all connectors. Check wiring harness between PCM connector and Data Link Connector (DLC). See DATA LINK CONNECTORS article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. Repair wiring as necessary. If wiring harness is okay, check power supply to PCM. See TEST NTC-25: POWER SUPPLY & IGNITION SWITCH (IG) SYSTEM . Repair as necessary and recheck system operation.
