Turn Signal Indicator Light

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition on. Check operation of each individual turn signal. If turn signal(s) is not working, repair turn signals as necessary. See appropriate wiring diagram in EXTERIOR LIGHTS article. If turn signals are operating properly, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, read turn signal status. Turn right turn signal on. If scan tool does not display turn signal status changing from OPEN to CLOSED, go to step  7 . If scan tool displays turn signal status changing from OPEN to CLOSED, go to next step.
  3. Turn left turn signal on. If scan tool does not display turn signal status changing from OPEN to CLOSED, go to step  7 . If scan tool displays turn signal status changing from OPEN to CLOSED, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect information center 13-pin connector. Remove ignition key. Turn off all lights and accessories. Close all doors. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 3 (Black wire) at information center 13-pin connector. See Figure . If resistance is 10 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step.
  5. Remove and inspect both information center turn signal bulbs. Replace bulbs as necessary and recheck turn signal indicator operation. If both bulbs are okay, turn ignition on. Turn right turn signal on. Connect a test light between ground and terminal No. 4 (Brown/Red wire) at information center 13-pin connector. If test light does not flash, repair open in Brown/Red wire. If test light flashes, go to next step.
  6. Turn left turn signal on. Connect a test light between ground and terminal No. 2 (Dark Green/Red wire) at information center. If test light does not flash, repair open in Dark Green/Red wire. If test light flashes, replace information center.
  7. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . Access junction block internal 23-pin connector. Turn ignition on. Turn right turn signal on. Using a test light connected to ground, probe terminal No. 21 at internal 23-pin connector. See Figure . If test light does not flash, repair or replace junction block. If test light flashes, go to next step.
  8. Turn left turn signal on. Using a test light, probe terminal No. 19 at internal 23-pin connector. If test light does not flash, repair or replace junction block. If test light flashes, replace BCM.
