Courtesy Lights Inoperative With Any Door
- Remove and inspect fuse No. 6 from Power Distribution Center (PDC) in left side of engine compartment. If fuse is blown, check for cause of fuse to blow and repair as necessary. See appropriate wiring diagram in ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. If fuse is okay, ensure courtesy light switch (dimmer switch) next to headlight switch is in middle position. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY, BODY COMPUTER, then ACTUATOR TEST. Actuate COURTESY LMP RLY. If courtesy lights illuminate, go to next step. If courtesy lights do not illuminate, go to step 3 .
- Stop courtesy light actuation. Open driver's door. Using scan tool, read driver's door ajar switch status. If scan tool displays DRDOOR AJAR: CLOSED, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . If scan tool does not display DRDOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to OPEN DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT OR COURTESY LIGHTS INOPERATIVE WITH DRIVER'S DOOR test.
- Remove courtesy light relay from junction block. See Figure . Inspect connector for damaged pins, corrosion and loose terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 30 at courtesy light relay socket in junction block. See Figure . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, check for open in Pink/Violet wire between PDC and junction block. Repair wiring as necessary. If Pink/Violet wire is okay, replace junction block.
- Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 86 at courtesy light relay socket in junction block. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace junction block. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Connect a jumper wire between terminals No. 30 and 87 at courtesy light relay socket in junction block. If courtesy lights illuminate, go to next step. If courtesy lights do not illuminate, replace junction block.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Reinstall courtesy light relay. Access junction block connector C3. Junction block is located under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . Do not disconnect connector. Backprobing, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 34 (Brown/White wire) at junction block connector C3. See Figure . If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace courtesy light relay. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Remove headlight switch from dash. Do not disconnect connectors. Backprobing, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 9 (Brown/White wire) at headlight switch 13-pin connector. See Figure . If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Brown/White wire between headlight switch 13-pin connector and junction block. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Backprobing, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 3 (Brown/Light Green wire) at headlight switch 13-pin connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace headlight switch. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Access junction block connector C3. Junction block is located under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . Do not disconnect connector. Backprobing, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 10 (Brown/Light Green wire) at junction block connector C3. See Figure . If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Brown/Light Green wire between junction block and headlight switch connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM.
