Rear Wiper Inoperative
- Turn ignition on. Depress rear wiper switch to ON position. If indicator light on switch illuminates, go to next step. If indicator light does not illuminate, go to step 9 .
- Using scan tool, select BODY, HVAC and then I/O. Monitor rear wiper switch status. Depress rear wiper switch to ON position. If scan tool displays ON, go to next step. If scan tool does not display ON, go to step 9 .
- Using scan tool, select BODY COMPUTER, MONITOR DISPLAY, and then WIPER SYSTEM MONITOR. Depress rear wiper switch to ON position. If scan tool displays R-WIPE MSG TO BCM: WIPERS ON, go to next step. If scan tool does not display R-WIPE MSG TO BCM: WIPERS ON, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure .
- Turn ignition and all lights off. Disconnect rear wiper motor connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Black wire) at rear wiper motor connector. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire between ground and rear wiper motor. Ground location is located in liftgate. See Figure .
- Turn ignition on. Depress rear wiper switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 2 (Brown/Pink wire) at rear wiper motor connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Brown/Pink wire or replace blown fuse No. 6 in junction block.
- Ensure rear wiper switch is still on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 3 (Brown/Light Green wire) at rear wiper motor connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace rear wiper motor. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector "B". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 49 (Brown/Light Green wire) at BCM connector "B". See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/Light Green wire between BCM and rear wiper motor. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
- Connect a jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 3 (Brown/Light Green wire) at rear wiper motor connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 49 (Brown/Light Green wire) at BCM connector "B". See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Brown/Light Green wire between BCM and rear wiper motor.
- Remove and inspect fuse No. 6 from junction block. Junction block is located under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . If fuse is okay, go to 11 step. If fuse is blown, go to next step.
- Disconnect Heating/Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) module 21-pin connector C1. HVAC module is part of heating-A/C control assembly in center of instrument panel. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 10 (Brown/Pink wire) at HVAC module connector C1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/Pink wire between HVAC module and junction block. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace HVAC module.
- Disconnect Heating/Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) module 21-pin connector C1. HVAC module is part of heating-A/C control assembly in center of instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 10 (Brown/Pink wire) at HVAC module connector C1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Brown/Pink wire between HVAC module and junction block.
- Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 21 (Black/Light Green wire) at HVAC connector C1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace HVAC module. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black/Light Green wire between ground and HVAC module. Ground location is located behind left side of instrument panel.
