Park/Neutral Switch (3-Speed A/T)
- Park/neutral switch is located on side of transaxle. See Fig 1
. Disconnect electrical connector at park/neutral switch.
- Apply parking brake. Check for continuity between center terminal on park/neutral switch and transaxle case. Continuity should exist only when shift lever is in Park or Neutral. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, check shift cable adjustment. If shift cable is properly adjusted, replace park/neutral switch.
- Check for continuity between the 2 outer terminals on park/neutral switch with shift lever in Reverse, and then all other gears. Continuity should only exist between the 2 outer terminals with shift lever in Reverse. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace park/neutral switch.
- Check continuity does not exist between the 2 outer terminals on park/neutral switch and the transaxle case. Replace park/neutral switch if continuity exists between outer terminal and transaxle case.
- If park/neutral switch or wiring circuit failure exists, a DTC will be stored in PCM. See DTC P1899: PARK/NEUTRAL SWITCH STUCK IN PARK OR GEAR (3-SPEED A/T)
