Open Liftgate Ajar Circuit Or Courtesy Lights Inoperative With Liftgate
- Disconnect liftgate ajar switch connector. Inspect connector for damaged pins, corrosion and loose terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, connect a jumper wire between Black wire and Tan/Black wire at liftgate ajar switch connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read liftgate ajar switch status. If scan tool displays LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, replace left sliding door ajar switch. If scan tool does not display LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Reconnect jumper wire between ground and Tan/Black wire at liftgate ajar switch connector. Using scan tool, read liftgate ajar switch status. If scan tool displays LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, repair open in Black wire between left sliding door ajar switch and ground. Ground location is located in liftgate. See Figure . If scan tool does not display LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Access Body Control Module (BCM) connector "B". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . Remove connector cover. Do not disconnect connector. Connect a jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 59 (Tan/Black wire) at BCM connector "B". See Figure . Using scan tool, read liftgate ajar switch status. If scan tool displays LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, repair open in Tan/Black wire between liftgate ajar switch and BCM. If scan tool does not display LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, replace BCM.
