Illuminated Entry Inoperative With RKE Transmitter

NOTE: Before performing ILLUMINATED ENTRY INOPERATIVE WITH RKE TRANSMITTER test, check for any power door lock Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If any power door lock DTCs are present, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  1. Operate door locks using Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter. If door locks when transmitter is actuated, system is functioning properly at this time. Fault may be intermittent. If doors do not lock when transmitter is actuated, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, reprogram a known-good transmitter. Ensure each transmitter battery voltage is 3.2 volts. Turn ignition on. Place transmission in Park. If vehicle is equipped with anti-theft system, ensure anti-theft system is in disarm mode. Using scan tool, select MISCELLANEOUS, then PROGRAM RKE. If BCM IS IN PROGRAMMING MODE does not appear, exit and select PROGRAM RKE again. If BCM IS IN PROGRAMMING MODE appears, press any transmitter button. A single chime will announce RKE module accepted transmission. Repeat procedure for all transmitters used with vehicle. Operate door locks from reprogrammed transmitter. If door locks operate properly, system is functioning properly. Replace original transmitter and reprogram all transmitters. If door locks still do not operate properly, go to next step.
  3. Access RKE module under instrument panel cover. See Fig 1 . Turn ignition off. Disconnect RKE module connector. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at RKE module harness connector terminal No. 4 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black/Light Green wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  4. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 3 (Pink wire) at RKE module connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Pink wire between RKE module and Power Distribution Center (PDC). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  5. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 5 (Dark Blue wire) at RKE module connector. If circuit (Dark Blue wire) is grounded, RKE system will be inoperative. If resistance is less than 2000 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue wire. If resistance is 2000 ohms or more, go to next step.
  6. Ensure gear shift selector is in Park. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 6 (Light Green/Red wire) at RKE module connector. If voltage is more than 4 volts, go next step. If voltage is 4 volts or less, go to  8 .
  7. Connect a jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 5 (Dark Blue wire) at RKE module connector. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector "A". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 37 (Dark Blue wire) at BCM connector "A". See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Dark Blue wire between BCM and RKE module. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace RKE module.
  8. Connect a jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 6 (Light Green/Red wire) at RKE module connector. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 4 (Light Green/Red wire) at BCM connector "A". If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Light Green/Red wire between BCM and RKE module. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  9. Remove jumper wire. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 4 (Light Green/Red wire) at BCM connector "A". If resistance is 4800 ohms or more, replace BCM. If resistance is less than 4800 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Red wire between BCM and RKE module.
