Open Liftgate Ajar Circuit Or Courtesy Lights Inoperative With Liftgate

  1. Disconnect liftgate ajar switch connector. Inspect connector for damaged pins, corrosion and loose terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, connect a jumper wire between Black wire and Tan/Black wire at liftgate ajar switch connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read liftgate ajar switch status. If scan tool displays LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, replace left sliding door ajar switch. If scan tool does not display LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect jumper wire. Reconnect jumper wire between ground and Tan/Black wire at liftgate ajar switch connector. Using scan tool, read liftgate ajar switch status. If scan tool displays LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, repair open in Black wire between left sliding door ajar switch and ground. Ground location is located in liftgate. See Figure . If scan tool does not display LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect jumper wire. Access Body Control Module (BCM) connector "B". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . Remove connector cover. Do not disconnect connector. Connect a jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 59 (Tan/Black wire) at BCM connector "B". See Figure . Using scan tool, read liftgate ajar switch status. If scan tool displays LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, repair open in Tan/Black wire between liftgate ajar switch and BCM. If scan tool does not display LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH: CLOSED, replace BCM.
