Front Wipers Not Working In High Speed Mode

  1. Remove wiper high/low relay from Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located in engine compartment, next to battery. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Turn wipers to LOW speed setting. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 85 at wiper high/low relay socket in PDC. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair or replace PDC.
  2. Connect a jumper wire between terminals No. 30 and 87 at wiper high/low relay socket in PDC. If wiper motor does not operate, go to next step. If wiper motor operates, go to step  6 .
  3. Disconnect jumper wire. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 85 at wiper high/low relay socket in PDC. Move wiper switch to HI position. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace wiper high/low relay. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step.
  4. Remove lower steering column cover. Disconnect multifunction switch. See Figure . Connect a jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 5 (White wire) at multifunction switch connector. See Figure . Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 85 at wiper high/low relay socket in PDC. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in White wire between PDC and multifunction switch.
  5. Remove jumper wire. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 8 (Black wire) at multifunction switch connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire between ground and multifunction switch. Ground location is located behind left side of instrument panel. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace multifunction switch.
  6. Disconnect wiper module connector. See Figure . Inspect connector for damaged pins, corrosion and loose terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, connect a jumper wire between wiper terminals No. 30 and 87 at high/low relay socket in PDC. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 3 (Red/Yellow wire) at wiper module connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace wiper motor. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Red/Yellow wire between high/low wiper relay and wiper motor module.
