Power Mirrors: Description
Outside power rear view mirrors consist of door-mounted mirrors with internal motor drive and backing plate. Mirrors are controlled by a single, multifunction, joystick-type switch assembly. Mirror motors are integral with mirror assemblies and cannot be serviced separately. On Dakota and Durango, rear view mirrors are fold-away.
Dakota, Durango and Ram Pickup have optional automatic dimming day/night inside mirror. The mirror uses 2 photocell sensors to monitor ambient and rear facing light levels. The mirror automatically adjusts its reflectance to reduce headlight glare from vehicles approaching from the rear. The mirror is controlled by an off/on switch located on the mirror bottom. If transmission is in Reverse, automatic dimming is disabled.
Dakota, Durango and Ram Pickup have outside mirror defoggers when equipped with optional rear window defogger. Power mirror defogger is activated by switch on instrument panel. A timer turns off defogger after about 10-15 minutes.
