Inoperative Decklid Release

  1. Disconnect decklid release solenoid/ajar switch harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Black wire) at decklid release solenoid/ajar switch harness connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between decklid release solenoid/ajar switch and ground.
  2. Connect test light between terminals No. 1 (Black wire) and No. 3 (Black/White wire) at decklid release solenoid/ajar switch harness connector. Press decklid release switch. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates when switch is pressed, replace decklid release solenoid/ajar switch.
  3. Disconnect decklid release switch harness connector. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) harness connector C1. Measure resistance in Black/White wire between terminal No. 1 at decklid release switch harness connector and terminal No. 1 at BCM harness connector C1. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/White wire between decklid release switch and BCM.
  4. Disconnect BCM from back of junction block. Measure resistance in Black/White wire between terminal No. 3 at decklid release solenoid/ajar switch harness connector and terminal No. 8 at BCM connector on back of junction block. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/White wire between decklid release solenoid/ajar switch and BCM.
  5. Measure voltage at terminal No. 2 at decklid release switch harness connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair power distribution circuit as necessary. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  6. Connect BCM harness connectors and connect BCM to junction block. Connect test light between terminals No. 1 (Black wire) and No. 3 (Black/White wire) at decklid release solenoid/ajar switch harness connector. Using another fused jumper wire, connect positive battery voltage to terminal No. 1 (Black/White wire) at decklid release switch harness connector. If test light does not illuminate, replace BCM. If test light illuminates, replace decklid release switch.
