Passenger Door Central Lock (Arm)/Unlock (Disarm) Switch Failure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Concorde, and 2002 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.

Monitored & Set Condition

  1. When Monitored: Continuously.
  2. Set Condition: The BCM detects a signal on the input for over 10 seconds.

Possible Causes:

Testing

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear Body Control Module (BCM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). Using key in passenger door, lock and unlock vehicle several times. Using scan tool, retrieve BCM DTCs. If PASSENGER DOOR CENTRAL LOCK (ARM)/UNLOCK (DISARM) SWITCH FAILURE DTC resets, go to next step. If PASSENGER DOOR CENTRAL LOCK (ARM)/UNLOCK (DISARM) SWITCH FAILURE DTC does not reset, fault may be intermittent. Check related wiring and connectors for poor connections or damage to wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair any problems found as necessary. If no problems are found, check if any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) apply to vehicle. If no TSBs apply, test is complete.
  2. Turn ignition off. Using key in passenger door, lock and unlock vehicle several times. If key is not binding in any position, go to next step. If key is binding in any position, repair or replace passenger cylinder lock as necessary.
  3. Disconnect passenger cylinder lock switch connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read PASS DOOR DISARM SW voltage. If any voltage is displayed, leave passenger cylinder lock switch connector disconnected and go to next step. If no voltage is displayed, replace passenger cylinder lock switch. See POWER DOOR LOCKS & TRUNK RELEASE - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM connector C4. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage on BCM connector C4 terminal No. 3, passenger cylinder lock switch MUX circuit (Dark Green/Orange wire) at. See Figure . If any voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Dark Green/Orange wire. If no voltage exists, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
