VTSS Indicator Fails To Flash
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. Unless instructed otherwise in test step, reconnect any disconnected connectors.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module connector. Connect a jumper wire between ground and RKE module connector terminal No. 17, Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) indicator driver circuit (Black/Orange wire). See Figure. If VTSS indicator illuminates, replace RKE module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If VTSS indicator does not illuminate, leave RKE module connector disconnected and go to next step.
- Disconnect instrument cluster connector. Instrument cluster connector is a 26-pin Black connector, located behind left upper instrument panel. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance of VTSS indicator circuit (Black/Orange wire) between RKE module connector terminal No. 17 and instrument cluster connector terminal No. 5. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, perform ANY LED INDICATOR FAILS SELF-TEST under INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Black/Orange wire.
