Powertrain Control Module: Removal

The PCM engine control strategy prevents reduced idle speeds until after engine operates for 320 km (200 miles). If PCM is replaced after 320 km (200 miles) of usage, update mileage and vehicle identification number (VIN) in new PCM. Use DRB scan tool to change mileage and VIN in PCM. If this step is not done a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may be set. Refer to appropriate Powertrain Diagnostic Manual and DRB scan tool.

To avoid possible voltage spike damage to PCM, ignition key must be off, and negative battery cable must be disconnected before unplugging PCM connectors. Note radio programs.

  1. Disconnect positive cable from PDC. Remove cover. Remove three connector from PCM. Remove PCM mounting screws. Remove PCM.
