Compass Variance Procedure
- Compass variance is the difference between magnetic north and geographic north. To adjust compass variance, turn ignition on. If compass/temperature data is not currently being displayed, momentarily depress and release STEP button to step through display options until you have reached compass/temperature display. Depress and hold both US/M and STEP buttons for approximately 5 seconds until VAR is displayed. Release both buttons. VAR along with current variance zone will appear in display.
- Select proper variance zone for your location. See Fig 1
. Momentarily depress and release US/M button to step through zone numbers, until zone number for your geographic location appears in display. Momentarily depress and release STEP button to enter displayed zone number into compass memory.
