All Courtesy Lights Inoperative

  1. Disconnect Black 14-pin headlight switch connector. See Figure . Connect fused jumper wire between ground and Black 14-pin headlight switch connector terminal No. 10 (Pink/Light Blue wire). See Figure . If any of the courtesy lights illuminate, go to next step. If none of the courtesy lights illuminate, repair open in Pink/Light Blue wire between Black 14-pin headlight switch connector terminal No. 10 and Gray 26-pin Central Timer Module (CTM) connector C1 terminal No. 21. See Figure .
  2. Disconnect Gray 16-pin Central Timer Module (CTM) connector C2. CTM is located behind left side kick panel. Connect DVOM between ground and Gray 16-pin CTM connector C2 terminal No. 1 (Yellow wire). See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair short to voltage in courtesy light driver circuit. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  3. Remove and inspect inoperative bulbs. Replace as necessary. If bulbs are okay, use a DVOM connected to ground to measure voltage at power circuit of one courtesy light. If 10 volts or more exist, go to next step. If less than 10 volts exist, repair open in courtesy light power circuit. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  4. Disconnect Gray 26-pin CTM connector C1. Using DVOM, measure resistance between Gray 26-pin CTM connector C1 terminal No. 9 and Black 14-pin headlight switch connector terminal No. 12 (Gray/Black wire). See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Gray/Black wire between Gray 26-pin CTM connector C1 terminal No. 9 and Black 14-pin headlight switch connector terminal No. 12. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  5. Remove headlight switch. See HEADLIGHT SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn courtesy light switch to ON position. Using DVOM, measure resistance of headlight switch between terminals No. 10 and 12. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace headlight switch. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace CTM. See CENTRAL TIMER MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
