Cargo Lights Inoperative
NOTE:
Ensure cargo lights are only lights that are inoperative. If other lights are inoperative, diagnose those lights first. See appropriate symptom test.
- Turn cargo lights on. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe Black 14-pin headlight switch connector terminal No. 8 (White wire). See Figure . If test light illuminates, go to step 3 . If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Using test light connected to ground, backprobe Black 14-pin headlight switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Yellow wire). If test light illuminates, replace headlight switch. See HEADLIGHT SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between Black 14-pin headlight switch connector terminal No. 1 and Brown 11-pin instrument panel junction block connector C8 terminal No. 11. See Figure . See HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS article.
- Ensure cargo lights are on. Access electrical connectors for cargo lights. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe Pink wire terminals at cargo lights. If test light illuminates on both circuits, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate on both circuits, repair open in Pink wire between cargo lights and fuse No. 1 in instrument panel junction block. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Gray 16-pin Central Timer Module (CTM) connector C2. CTM is located behind left side kick panel. Turn ignition on. Ensure cargo lights are on. Connect fused jumper wire between ground and Gray 16-pin CTM connector C2 terminal No. 3 (Pink/Dark Blue wire). See Figure . If cargo lights turn on, go to next step. If cargo lights do not turn on, repair open in Pink/Dark Blue wire between cargo lights and Gray 16-pin CTM connector C2 terminal No. 3.
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect CTM connector C2. Disconnect Black 14-pin headlight switch connector. Connect fused jumper wire between ground and Black 14-pin headlight switch connector terminal No. 11 (Pink/Dark Blue wire). See Figure . If cargo lights do not turn on, go to next step. If cargo lights turn on, repair open in Pink/Dark Blue wire between Black 14-pin headlight switch connector terminal No. 11 and Gray 26-pin Central Timer Module (CTM) connector C1 terminal No. 3. See Figure .
- Replace CTM. See CENTRAL TIMER MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
