Courtesy Lights Stay On

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Black 14-pin headlight switch connector. See Figure . If courtesy lights remain on, go to next step. If courtesy lights turn off, repair short to ground in Pink/Light Blue wire between Black 14-pin headlight switch connector terminal No. 10 and Central Timer Module (CTM) connector C1 terminal No. 21. See Figure and Figure .
  2. Disconnect Gray 16-pin Central Timer Module (CTM) connector C2. CTM is located behind left side kick panel. Connect DVOM between ground and Gray 16-pin CTM connector C2 terminal No. 1 (Yellow wire). See Figure . If resistance is more than 100 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 100 ohms or less, repair short to ground in courtesy light driver circuit. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  3. Remove headlight switch. See HEADLIGHT SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn headlight switch to OFF position. Turn courtesy light switch to OFF position. Connect one lead of DVOM to headlight switch terminal No. 12. Connect other lead of DVOM to remaining headlight switch terminals, one at a time. Record readings. Connect one lead of DVOM to headlight switch terminal No. 10. Connect other lead of DVOM to remaining headlight switch terminals, one at a time. Record readings. If resistance is 100 ohms or less on any of the measurements, replace headlight switch. If resistance is more than 100 ohms for any of the measurements, replace CTM.
