Door Lock Inhibit Inoperative

  1. Open driver's door. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), under lower left side of instrument panel. Using scan tool, select BODY COMPUTER, then INPUT/OUTPUT. Observe status of DRDOOR AJAR parameter. If scan tool displays DRDOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display DRDOOR AJAR: CLOSED, perform DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT OPEN  under DOOR AJAR SYSTEM.
  2. Ensure key is in ignition. Using scan tool, select BODY COMPUTER, then INPUT/OUTPUT. Observe status of KEY-IN IGNITION SWITCH parameter. If scan tool displays KEY-IN IGN: CLOSED, replace CTM. See CENTRAL TIMER MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If scan tool does not display KEY-IN IGN: CLOSED, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Black 14-pin ignition switch connector. See Figure . Connect fused jumper wire between ground and Black 14-pin ignition switch connector terminal No. 5 (Light Blue wire). See Figure . Using scan tool, select BODY COMPUTER, then INPUT/OUTPUT. Observe status of KEY-IN IGNITION SWITCH parameter. If scan tool displays KEY-IN IGN: CLOSED, replace ignition switch. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES - DAKOTA & DURANGO article. If scan tool does not display KEY-IN IGN: CLOSED, go to next step.
  4. Ensure all lights are off. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and Black 14-pin ignition switch connector terminal No. 6 (Black wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between Black 14-pin ignition switch connector terminal No. 6 and ground. See GROUND DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  5. Disconnect Gray 26-pin Central Timer Module (CTM) connector C1. CTM is located behind left side kick panel. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Light Blue wire between Black 14-pin ignition switch connector terminal No. 5 and Gray 26-pin CTM connector C1 terminal No. 19. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Blue wire between Black 14-pin ignition switch connector terminal No. 5 and Gray 26-pin CTM connector C1 terminal No. 19.
  6. Replace CTM. See CENTRAL TIMER MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
